Emily's 2026 Platform
Protecting Our Climate & Lowering Your Bills
As your Assemblymember, I am committed to fighting for a green future for all of us. New York is on the front lines of climate change, and we must lead the nation in addressing it. Climate change is a present threat, and it’s costing you money.
Emily’s Solution: Leading on Green Energy
The All-Electric Buildings Act
Through widespread corporate opposition, I passed this bill in 2023 to ensure that new buildings would run on electricity, not fossil fuels & gas. Now the mission is implementing it! The Governor and pro-gas billionaires have delayed the requirements, and our planet can’t afford delays!
The SUNNY Act
This bill is modeled after European innovations, and would legalize the use of balcony-based personal solar panels for all New Yorkers–putting your energy into your own hands and lowering your bills for good!
Protecting and Expanding the CLPCA & Ending Fracking For Good
Protecting & Expanding the CLCPA & Ending Fracking For Good: I fought for years to block the North Brooklyn Pipeline, and we did! Now, unfortunately, the NESE pipeline is in danger of being built, and the Community Leadership & Climate Protection Act (CLCPA), our most transformative climate law, is in danger of being rolled back. As your representative, I fight every day to stop this and to ban fracked gas once and for all in New York!
Truly Affordable Housing
Empty promises are made every day about affordability in housing, especially in NYC. Truly affordable housing is nearly impossible to find, and getting rarer every day.
Emily’s Solution: Social Housing
The Social Housing Development Authority
The Social Housing Development Authority, aka House The Future, would build thousands of new units, set to only 25% of a tenant’s income. These units would be:
- Democratically controlled and tenant-organized
- Permanently rent controlled
- 100% union-built
- Completely reliant on clean, green energy
Not every housing bill changes the reality of housing production. This will.
Saving Our Small Businesses
Small businesses are at the heart of our communities and our city’s history, but more and more we see them pushed out of their leases and the city entirely. There is currently no guarantee that a commercial lease will be renewed, or that the rents won’t skyrocket.
Emily’s Solution: Commerical Rent Stabilization
The NYC Commercial Rent Stabilization Act
The NYC Commercial Rent Stabilization Act would finally create a Rent Guidelines Board for commercial leases, ensuring an independent ruling on how much rent could go up–if at all.
8,400 businesses shut down in NYC in a single quarter last year. 12% of our storefronts are vacant, including 1 in 5 in Manhattan. Let’s end that.
Making Our Streets Safer
For years and years, through countless preventable deaths and countless delays and canceled projects, I made it my mission to fix McGuinness Boulevard, one of the most dangerous streets in the city. It’s not an anomaly; our streets are designed for cars only and pedestrians and bikers suffer.
Emily’s Solution: Redesigning Our Streets for Pedestrians.
Fixing McGuinness and Beyond
Together with Mayor Mamdani, we are FINALLY FIXING MCGUINNESS. We can reorient our intersections for safety and invest in bike lanes and open streets, funding public transportation and limiting the reckless driving that we’ve been all too used to.
Protecting Our Immigrant Neighbors
ICE has terrorized our communities, immigrant and citizen alike, for decades, and it has increased in a terrifying way under Trump. I remember a time before ICE, and we must envision a time after it.
Emily’s Solution: Abolish ICE
New York For All
While we can’t do that at the state level, we can come pretty close to shutting Trump’s thugs out of our state. We must pass New York For All, pass increased funding and protections for immigrants, and prosecute those who violate our rights.
Taxing the Rich
The wealthiest people in the country just got a $12 billion tax cut from Trump. NYC faces a massive budget gap. Services are going underfunded and more people are homeless each day. The rich have never had it so good, and many of the wealthiest people in the world live here in NY.
Emily’s Solution: TAX THE RICH and invest in New Yorkers
Funding Healthcare, Childcare, and More
Every year of my term, I’ve advocated for increased taxes on those making above $1 million and the most profitable corporations, to transfer the tax changes within NYC back to the city, and to fund our working class permanently!
This year, we can get it done.
Abortion Rights
Fighting for increased access and availability in the wake of the disastrous right-wing restrictions on our care.
Labor
Standing on the picket line and fighting for the most pro-labor legislation in our state’s history.
Criminal Justice
Expanding on our transformative criminal justice reform package and building a future beyond prisons.
Health Care For All
Passing the New York Health Act! Reversing Trump’s cuts with a real single-payer system for New York.
Public Transit
Preserving and expanding MTA service, including faster buses, no more unnecessary service interruptions (especially the G Train!) and lower fares.
With dozens of bills on these issues and so many more, my next term will be my most active yet in fighting for working people, our most vulnerable populations, and our climate. See you out there!
Solidarity,
Emily
